I’ve always been a last minute shopper. I always aim to be super organised and get all my shopping done early but it never happens. I’m the lunatic you see dashing from shop to shop the week before Christmas manically ticking items off my list. This year Fforestfach Retail Parc offered to help me out in my last minute mad dash and gave me £200 to finish all my Christmas shopping. I still had a long list and a number of people to buy for. Would it even be possible to finish all my shopping at Fforestfach Retail Parc? Read on to find out how I got on.
For The Bestie
I already knew exactly what I wanted to get my best friend, something Gin related and a new handbag. River Island is my go-to for handbags as they have an amazing selection of on-trend pieces, it was actually really difficult to decide which one to get as there was so much choice. I never expected to find a Gin gift set in New Look though! I was seriously impressed with their selection of gift items and all items marked with a gingerbread man sticker were on 3 for 2. If you still have some gifts to get then I would definitely recommend checking out New Look for some gifting inspiration.
Gin Botanical Set (New Look) – £15.99
Khaki and Tan Handbag (River Island) – £32
For the Baby
The boy I can’t stop buying for, Nolan. Every shop we went in I ended up looking for something for him. The first thing I picked up was the My First Christmas photo album which I found in The Card Factory and it was a steal at just £1.99. I can’t wait to add pictures from this Christmas to it and have something to look back on in years to come. Gavin chose the Constellation Projector for Nolan as he loves looking at lights so we thought this would be perfect for his bedroom.
One of my favourite shops in Fforestfach Retail Parc is HomeSense and that’s where, after a lot of rummaging, I found the Vtech My 1st Smartphone which I had been really wanting to get Nolan as he loves playing with my phone. Last but certainly not least I couldn’t resist picking up one of the Elf of the Shelf style Elves in Poundland. Next year I’m definitely going to be making the most of him and seeing what antics he gets up to in our household.
My First Christmas Photo Album (The Card Factory) – £1.99
Build your Own Constellation Projector (The Works) – £7
Vtech Baby My 1st Smart Phone (HomeSense) – £7.99
Naughty Elf (Poundland) – £2
Boots Every 3rd Gift Free Offer
This year Boots have changed their offer from 3 for 2 to every 3rd gift free. What does this mean for you? Well instead of getting the cheapest item for free you now get every 3rd item for free instead. At the checkout, the items will be grouped from most to least expensive and each third item is your free item. Genius! Thanks Boots.
I didn’t actually have anyone specific in mind when picking up these gifts but is it even Christmas if you don’t pick up something in the Boots offer? It’s always handy to have a range of emergency gifts just in case you’ve forgotten somebody (which I have done on numerous occasions, awkward!) so I’ve covered all the bases with something for men, something for the ladies and honestly, I’ll probably be keeping that Nando’s gift set for myself.
For the Nans
We picked up these gorgeously boxed Christmas scented candles for the Nan’s that were on offer in The Card Factory at 2 for £9. The Card Factory was the shop that surprised me the most. I don’t normally spend time looking around when I go in but there were so many gift ideas in there that it took us ages to decide which items we liked the most to buy. I’m glad we settled on these candle gift sets as they definitely look more expensive than they were.
12 Days of Christmas Candle (The Card Factory) – £4.99
Winter Wonderland Christmas Candle (The Card Factory) – £4.99
Mum a.k.a the hardest person in the world to buy for. What do you get the woman who has everything and wants nothing? The first thing that caught my eye was this Heyland and Whittle Reed diffuser in Clementine and Prosecco from Home Sense. It smells like Christmas in a bottle. I was a bit stuck on what else to get her but then I spotted this No7 gift set in Boots. It was one of their star gifts and was over 50% off the original price so I had to get it! I paid just £39 but the contents are worth £149.50 and contains 10 full-size products. What an insane discount!
No7 Gift Set (Boots) – £39
Heyland and Whittle Reed Diffuser (Home Sense) – £12.99
I mean is it even Christmas if you don’t spend money on yourself? I’m seriously the world’s worst gift shopper as I get so distracted by items that I would want for myself instead. I think I was pretty tame this year and only picked up a few pieces for myself. I treated myself to a new, very swish, purse, a bobble hat and a 2019 diary.
Rose Gold Metallic Purse (Clarks) – £25
Grey Pom Pom Bobble Hat (H&M) – £8.99
2019 Diary (HomeSense) – £9.99
How Much I Spent
I wasn’t keeping a total of how much we were spending as we were going along and for all the items I bought I definitely thought we had gone over budget. Before discounts, our total shop came to – £270.93. Once you applied all the discounts our total spend came to – £191.94!
I can’t believe I saved a massive £78.99! Just by shopping in places like Home Sense where branded items are heavily discounted and Boots where I picked up the 3rd gift for free and the star gift buy I saved all that money.
