There are many ways to make money blogging and you don’t need tens of thousands of followers to start earning. It’s something that does take time and effort but it is possible to make a nice little side earning. I’m going to share with you my tips and secrets that have enabled me to make a few hundred pounds a month. I’m certainly no Zoella but it does fund my regular ASOS hauls.
Affiliate Marketing allows you to earn a commission by sharing products from a retailer through a 3rd party company. If someone then clicks or purchases the item you have shared you will earn a small fee in return. Affiliate Marketing is something all bloggers should be utilizing daily.
The important factor is acknowledging your niche and sticking to promoting products that your followers find relevant. For example, I wouldn’t advertise fitness products as that just isn’t something I’m interested in. Products I regularly share include Beauty Items, Clothing from ASOS and Money Saving Offers. These are all topics I cover on my blog so they fit and work for me in monetizing my blog.
The great thing about affiliate marketing is that you can make money while you sleep. My post about Cruelty Free Beauty Brands has been shared a few times on Pinterest and now every time someone visits that post and clicks to view or purchase a product I make money.
Make sure to utilize all your social media platforms to reach your followers. Affiliate marketing can be used anywhere. If you are sharing a link to a product make sure to check if you can monetize it first.
I’ve recently started monetizing my Instagram account. I currently only have around 1,300 followers but am still able to monetize this platform. There are multiple ways to make money on Instagram from securing brand collaborations yourself to using 3rd party platforms such as Takumi and Tribe.
I’ve recently had a lot of success using the app Takumi. Currently for my 1,300 following I am offered £65 per Instagram Ad. The higher the following the higher the payment. The only downside to the app is that you have to be extremely quick to secure a collaboration as you are competing with other influencers.
Payment is normally made within a few days of posting so there’s no chasing up unpaid invoices at the end of the month.
A sponsored post is where a brand pay you in exchange for a blog post and social media coverage of their brand. My most recent sponsored post was in collaboration with Bidvine. I feel like sponsored posts are few and far between as fewer brands are willing to pay for coverage. If you are approached for a sponsored post don’t sell yourself short and always request a payment. I currently charge around £150 for a sponsored post and at the moment I have 7,000 followers across social media.
I’m not actively seeking out sponsored posts with brands at the moment but it’s definitely something worth doing. I know a few bloggers who have great success with sponsored posts and that is where the majority of their blogging income comes from.
How Much I Make
We are only 2 days into March but I have already managed to secure £175 for this month.
- £130 – Instagram Ad’s
- £45 – Affiliate Income
I’m hoping to make this even more by the end of the month. There is no end to how much money you can make blogging. As your following grows so can your earnings. I’m hoping to be earning a steady £500 a month by the end of the year. Set yourself a goal of how much you would like to make next month and follow my tips to help get you there.
