On Thursday evening I was invited along to the new Bistrot Pierre in Oyster Wharf, Mumbles. I haven’t visited Mumbles properly for such a long time and I had no idea just how much it had changed over the past year. What was the old indoor arcade is now home to three restaurants including Bistrot Pierre which is the largest of the three. The entire revamp of the building reportedly cost 1.2 million! Holy eff! I was pretty blown away by the whole aesthetic of the new buildings they almost looked colosseum like. Very classy indeed. After seeing how grand the outside of the building looked I couldn’t wait to see the inside.

As you walk through the entryway to the left is where a casual dining / bar area can be found. If you head straight onwards and up to the first floor that is where the main dining area can be found along with the Kitchen, Bar Area and Terrace. The first thing I noticed was the view! The majority of the building is glass and provides exceptional views out onto the sea. I headed straight out onto the Terrace and just pictured how incredibly romantic a meal for two would be whilst the sun was setting in the distance. I could easily have believed we were somewhere abroad and not in Swansea.
There is a 2nd floor to the building which has a private dining room which would be perfect for large parties. The room width arched window provides even more exceptional views of the sea and of the restaurant below. It really did feel very grand and I can imagine this private area proving very popular for corporate events or for evenings out with family and friends.
It is clear to see just how much thought and planning went into this project. From the industrial style lighting to the exposed brickwork, the plush leather seating to the solid wood style tables, every little detail has been carefully thought about. I absolutely adore the entire aesthetic of the building and I can’t wait to go back soon to see what the food is like.
