On Friday I left ‘sunny’ Wales and headed for the countryside of Northamptonshire with Ffion from She Means Business. The reason we took the 3 hour road trip was to attend the Blognix Retreat organised by Elizabeth of Rosalilium and her partner Raj. When I initially signed up for the event I didn’t really know what to expect as I hadn’t heard of Blognix before. I liked the sound of the talks and workshops and thought it was a great excuse for a weekend away.
As soon as myself and Ffion arrived it was drop our bags and head straight for something to eat. Hellidon Lakes Hotel is in the middle of the countryside and there isn’t anything near so we headed to the hotel bar for food and it did not disappoint!
After food we headed up to our room to work on some blog posts before getting an ‘early night’ ready for the next day. (We stayed up talking til around Midnight)
We got up early for a yummy cooked breakfast and we had seats overlooking the lake and golf course. I’d love to wake up to a view like that every morning.
Registration for Blognix was from 9:30am and we had the opportunity to sign up for certain talks in the afternoon. We were also provided with goody bags which I wasn’t expecting so that was a nice surprise.
We opened with a welcome talk from Elizabeth herself and she talked about what to expect from the weekend and that the motto for the weekend was –
‘Learn. Connect. Inspire’
The motto definitely sums up the whole weekend. I can’t believe how much I actually learnt and how inspired I felt just being there with all these amazing bloggers! There was an abundance of knowledge being shared amongst bloggers and for once I felt like everyone was working as a team. I spoke to so many people and I can’t believe how many people I really connected with even though we blogged about completely different things.
After the day of talks ended everyone headed up to their rooms to prep for our evening of food, fun and games. We were greeted back downstairs by champagne and we all had assigned seats for dinner. When I noticed we had assigned seats my first thought was, ‘Oh god I’m not sitting by Ffion’ but I think that’s the best thing that happened. It pushed me out of my comfort zone to get chatting to new people and I ended up on The Best Table (This is the team name we came up with for the quiz). I loved the table I was on and our conversations just flew so naturally as if we had known each other much longer than just a few minutes.
We had a three course meal and the food was absolutely incredible and we had plenty of refills of wine. I was a very happy Neesha! During our courses Elizabeth had arranged a quiz which made the wait between meals seem like no time at all.
After Dinner we moved to the bar area where the drinks and chat carried on flowing. Around 10pm we went downstairs to the bowling alley where we all chatted more and danced along to music and I epically failed at bowling!
I think Me and Ffion went up to our room around 11pm but stayed up for another 2 hours working on our Pinterest game after listening to Elizabeth’s talk that afternoon.
The next day we had 2 more talks and then it was time to say Goodbye to Blognix Retreat 2016.
I was really sad to leave after having such a whirlwind amazing weekend away. I honestly cannot recommend Blognix enough and if you get the opportunity to go then it is 100% worth it. I left feeling inspired, motivated and ready to take on the world. A massive Thank you to Elizabeth and Raj for putting the whole event together!
