Christmas Traditions

Christmas Traditions

I do love December. Not only is it Christmas but it’s also my birthday. I love that everyone seems to go out more and generally seems a bit more upbeat. One thing I have been thinking about recently is traditions that families have around Christmas time. I can’t really think of any that my family currently have so I thought I’d write a list of all the things that I would like to start making into a tradition for myself.

New Pyjamas on Christmas Eve

This is something I’ve done for the last 3 years now. I’ve gone out and bought myself some brand new pyjamas ready to wear on Christmas Eve. I’ve already bought the pair I’m going to gift myself this year and they are tucked safely away in a draw. I’ve chosen some ‘Elf’ The Movie pyjamas and I’m glad I bought them early because they are sold out already!

Drinks with Friends on Christmas Eve

This is already technically a tradition as myself and my friends have been going to the same pub for the last 5 years to celebrate and have drinks together on Christmas Eve. This year we are having a meal at the pub before hand and will be there til shut up. I can’t wait!

Donate A Gift

Every year in South Wales there is an appeal called the Mr X Campaign that collects presents to give to underprivileged children at Christmas. People can register to take part and then they are assigned a child to purchase a present for. All you know about your child is there First Name, Age and Gender to be able to guide you in what to buy. I’d love to start taking part in this every year.

Decoration Celebration

I’d love to start the tradition of putting up the decorations on the 1st of December and having maybe a takeaway and wine to celebrate the achievement of not getting tangled up in tinsel. Unfortunately I have missed the 1st for this to happen now but it’s something I’m going to try and implement from next year!

Do you and your family or friends have any Christmas Traditions? I’d love to hear some to see if I can add to my list.

I love our family Christmas tradition of an ultra-competitive game of Trivial Pursuit after dinner! I have to say I like your Christmas Eve pyjamas idea. I love new pyjamas and don't treat myself to them as much as I think I should… so that's a great excuse!

I used to love Trivial Pursuit when I was younger. We used to play it all the time. I might have to buy an updated version now though as mine is ancient!
