Top Christmas Films & New Release 'Christmas with the Coopers'

I love nothing more in the run up to Christmas than cosying up on the sofa with some chocolate and watching a Christmas film to get me in the festive spirit. This year I have actually watched one Christmas film already at a friends house because we just couldn’t wait for December. Here are my top picks of my absolute festive favourites!

1. Elf

I know some people absolutely love it and others hate it. I am firmly in the ‘Love It’ category! Will Ferrell who plays the leading role of Buddy the Elf definitely has a very particular style of acting and you either love or loathe him. I find his style of humour absolutely hilarious and I love him in every role he has done. That’s probably why I’m such a big fan of Elf.

2. The Muppets Christmas Carol

This has been a firm favourite of mine from a young age and is probably one of my earliest memories of watching a Christmas film. I now try and hold back from watching this film until Christmas Eve to really put me in the spirit ready for Christmas. I’ve always loved the Muppets and if you haven’t seen their version of A Christmas Carol then you really need to see it asap!

3. The Santa Clause

This is a 90’s classic for me and I’ve probably watched this film 100 times! It’s a really cute story with a little heartbreak thrown in that ultimately leads to a happy ending. It’s an easy watch and one for all the family.

4. Jingle All The Way

Who doesn’t love a film with Arnie in? I used to watched Kindergarten Cop loads as a kid so when a Christmas themed Arnie movie came out I had to see it. The story is all about the hunt for a toy for his son for Christmas which throws up obstacle, after obstacle with the theme of the movie being that Christmas is about more than just toys.

5. The Grinch

I absolutely love Jim Carrey and he is definitely the perfect actor suited to playing Dr Seuss’ Grinch. The film is funny from start to finish with plenty of action and even a sing-song thrown in. It’s one for all the family with subtle jokes hidden for adults to appreciate.

6. The Holiday

Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black all in one film was always going to be a recipe for success and a film that would appeal to a lot of people. I absolutely love The Holiday and the story told. I also very much enjoy watching Jude Law!

7. Miracle on 34th Street

Santa, a cute girl and believing in the magic of Christmas *sheds tear*. This film has everything about Christmas nailed and really draws you into the story of believing in Kris Kringle. Mara Wilson plays the perfect little girl in every film so it’s hard not to fall in love with her and wish for everything she wishes for with her.

8. Deck The Halls

Deck the Halls always seems to be on TV and it’s not a hugely popular film. Very slapstick comedy in style but light hearted and easy to watch. It’s one of those films that once I start watching I can’t help but watch to the end.

Christmas with the Coopers

There is a new film on the block this year and there’s nothing I love more than a new Christmas film! I feel like new ones aren’t made often enough anymore so it’s nice to see there will be one this year. Christmas with the Coopers has an insanely amazing cast with actors including John Goodman, Ed Helms, Amanda Seyfried, Marisa Tomei and Olivia Wilde to name a few. I feel like you can always tell if a film is going to be good by the cast and this one is giving me high hopes!

The storyline for the film is – ‘When four generations of the Cooper clan come together for their annual Christmas Eve celebration, a series of unexpected visitors and unlikely events turn the night upside down, leading them all toward a surprising rediscovery of family bonds and the spirit of the holiday.’

The film will be launching in cinemas on December 1st so it’s the perfect way to get you into the festive spirit. I’ll definitely be dragging the girls along for a fun night out before Christmas to see the film that is set to be the next Love Actually!

What’s your favourite Christmas film? Will you be going to the cinema to see Christmas with the Coopers?
