Nicka K New York Nail Varnish

Nicka K New York Nail Varnish* – £4.95

Colours – NY113 Lavender / NY119 Blue Marine / NY109 Cotton Candy

I’ve always been a nail varnish hoarder. I have a massive clear out of nail varnish at least twice a year and I always find so many colours that are pretty much identical to each other just by different brands. I can just never say no to nail varnish!

Nicka K New York kindly sent me 3 Nail varnishes from their collection to try out and give my thoughts. First things first, I love the packaging! The bottle size is much larger than most other brands and is more similar to the OPI Nail Varnish packaging. You definitely get much more for your money with this brand! With the bottle size being larger I assumed the actual brush would be larger too but it’s not, which I love. There’s nothing worse than having a huge applicating brush that makes the outer corner of the nail hard to paint. Saying that, no matter what size the applicating brush I’m still rubbish at painting my own nails. Nicka K New York Nail Varnish NY113 Lavender

The colour that really caught my eye was this beautiful Lavender shade. I kind of already have something similar but it’s a bit more grey toned and I prefer this lighter shade. I thought because the colour was so light it might take 2-3 coats to apply but it went on smoothly in just one coat! Really impressed with this as I hate waiting so long for my nails to dry.

Nicka K New York Nail Varnish - Blue Marine

I really like this dark blue metallic style shade and again this went on evenly with just one coat. This time when applying though I didn’t use a top coat and found that when I went in the shower the nail varnish started to flake off. Make sure you invest in a good top coat to make the nail varnish last longer, my current favourite is Seche Vite.

This pink colour was probably my least favourite of the bunch as I’m just not really a pink nails kind of girl. The formula for this nail varnish was also very thin and it took 3 coats to get the colour even. Probably not something I would wear again.

Overall I’m really impressed with these nail varnishes and they have a huge selection of colours available. I’ve already got my eye on Mauve and Pinky Promise. As Nicka K New York are an American brand you can currently buy their nail varnishes via the Beauty Crowd website.

Which of the above colours is your favourite? Have you tried Nicka K New York before?
