Only very recently (in the last year since having this blog) have I really gotten into makeup brushes. I always used to apply my makeup with my hand or with some cheapy brush set that had come as part of a christmas gift set. Now being a complete makeup hoarder I have managed to accumulate most of the Real Techniques collection of brushes. The only downside with having so many brushes is washing them all, so when Lab2 offered me to try out their brushes I thought ‘Yes please I can put off washing my other brushes now!’ Lazy beauty blogger problems!
The first thing that stuck out for me about the Lab2 collection of makeup brushes is the funny and catchy names they have given to each brush. One of their eye makeup brushes is called ‘Beyond a shadow of a doubt’ and their concealer brush is called ‘Got nothin’ to hide’. It’s the little things like this that make me just love a brand more.
I have used all the brushes for a good week now and here are my thoughts on each of them individually:
I’m Turning Pro Buffing Brush
The buffing brush is supposed to be used for applying powder to the skin but I have been using it to apply my foundation instead and it’s the best thing I ever did. It makes my foundation go on like an absolute dream. The brush is so soft and I actually already prefer this to my Real Techniques buffing brush. I am seriously impressed with just how amazing this brush is and I’ve noticed a lot more of the product actually gets used on my face rather than getting stuck in the bristles of the brush. This also means less occasional brush washing! *Cha-ching*
I’m Turning Pro Foundation Brush
For me this brush is a little on the skinny side to be a foundation brush, so instead I have been using this to apply my concealer. The bristles of the brush are super super soft and I find it really easy to ensure good coverage, especially on the under eye area when using this brush. I find that with it being so soft it doesn’t take any of my foundation off whilst applying another product on top and blends really easily. Be gone blemishes and spots.
I’m Turning Pro Contour Brush
The contour brush is beyond perfect in every way I could imagine, the size and angle of the brush mean that your bronzer is applied with ease and goes on in one beautiful sweep. This is one brush that I am seriously impressed with. I’ve also found it easier to add a more bronzed look to my temple without accidentally smothering my entire forehead in a golden brown glow. It works perfectly for me and I don’t think there’s any going back to my old brush now.
I’m Turning Pro Eyeshadow Brush
I really love the size and shape of this brush. It’s great for the base colour you are using across the eyelid and it blends incredibly. I did my eye makeup for an evening out and I was so pleased at how smoothly the eyeshadow went on. There’s nothing worse than getting stressed out doing your makeup so when it went right first time I was so pleased!
Considering the Real Techniques Core collection brush set is priced at £20.99 I think the Lab2 I’m Turning Pro Makeup Brush Set is excellent value for money at £18.99. I know that I won’t stop at these four now and will definitely invest in more from the Lab2 collection. I’ve already got my eye on the ‘On a Powder Trip’ brush and the ‘Put a Lid on it’ angled eyeshadow brush.
What brand of makeup brushes do you find yourself using the most?
