I’ve made up my mind. I’m not going wrinkly without a fight! Age is creeping up on all of us. I may be young today, but my body will start to show the first signs of aging soon. And I’m not about to let that happen. Instead, I am already trawling the big world wide internet for ideas, tips and solutions to keep me looking young.
Of course, I may not always be young, but what I’ve discovered leads me to think I might just get away with pretending to be young. Most people who are over a certain age will tell you it’s just a mindset anyway. If you think like you’re young, then you can be young forever. Still, I don’t fancy being a young person trapped in an old and wrinkly body. So here’s what can be done.
As I head into my thirties (eek!), the first grey hairs could start appearing. I’m not a stranger to dying my hair, but I will definitely not let those greys give me away. It’s in our thirties that the fine lines around our eyes start to deepen into wrinkles too. To stave off the deeper lines, it’s important to keep your skin hydrated. That means drinking plenty of water every day (something I know I should do but don’t).
Scrubs and exfoliants help keep the circulation going to your skin too. They also buff off the old, dead and dry skin cells that make you look older than you feel. Cleansing and toning isn’t just for those young ‘uns prone to spots you know! You should keep it up throughout your life and always finish with a moisturiser. There are night creams too. Check the packaging to see if it is the right one for your actual age group (not just the age you feel).
Next comes the exercise. Not only should you get your heart rate up to excite all those body cells into doing their jobs, but you should also exercise your face to keep it firm. There are all kinds of exercises on the internet, but the Yoga ones look the most interesting to me. They keep the muscles firm and also encourage the skin to stay elastic.
As I move through my forties, I might start to think about cosmetic procedures like Botox to prevent those deep lines showing. Collagen fillers are supposed to help with that too. Later on, I might even see about a silhouette thread lift to redefine my natural face shape. The results photos I’ve seen certainly look promising. To be perfectly honest I have already considered Botox as the lines on my forehead are getting more prominent but holding off as long as possible is the best idea.
Some people say that by the time you hit sixty, you won’t care what you look like anymore. I’m determined not to be one of those people! I want to embrace my femininity and my beauty until the day I die. I’m going to look after the one body I have and make the most of it every second of every day! I’ll use all the tools I have, like makeup and fashion to ensure I look my best, whatever age I reach. But I’m pretty sure I’ll still feel like I’m in my twenties. Forever a child at heart.
