Proactiv+ has always been a range I’ve know about for acne prone skin but never tried any of their products before. I always see their 3 step system in Boots and have always wanted to try it out but have never taken the plunge, mainly due to the cost. When I was contacted to review their new Proactiv+ range I couldn’t wait to put them to the test. I was kindly sent the Proactiv+ Cleansing Body Bar, Skin Smoothing Exfoliator & the Complexion Perfecting Hydrator.
Proactiv+ promises the following:
‘Proactiv+ Core System not only gets to the source of the blemish to clear existing breakouts and prevent new breakouts forming, it also hydrates and soothes the skin while helping to reduce redness, pore size, fade post-blemish marks and even skin tone.’
All three products that I used from the ProActiv+ range contain Salicylic acid which is a blemish fighting ingredient and helps to prevent further breakouts.
I’ve been using the three products for a month now and here’s how I got on:
ProActiv+ Cleansing Body Bar
I haven’t used a ‘soap’ style product to wash my body in years! I always reach for a super sweet scented shower gel. I found using a bar again a little bit of a nightmare and I dropped the product more times than I can remember. I do normally get quite bad breakouts across my chest and shoulders when the weather is warm (not that we’ve had a lot of that recently) and I found that using the body bar did combat this slightly. It’s probably not a product I would buy again as it didn’t have enough of an impact to make me change my current routine.
ProActiv+ Skin Smoothing Exfoliator
I’ve been using lotions and potions on my face since the age of about 13 when my face broke out really badly. I’ve always found that exfoliating style face washes have worked best for me. Compared to the normal exfoliator I use this one was much more gentle on the skin so I think it would be suitable for a more sensitive skin type. It definitely noticed my skin feeling much smoother and softer and also got rid of any dry, dead skin. I also used the product on my chest area and it has helped to clear up my blemishes from a previous breakout. I probably wouldn’t buy this product again as I do have other exfoliating products that I prefer to this.
ProActiv+ Complexion Perfecting Hydrator
This was by far my favourite of all three products. The moisturiser went on like an absolute dream and sunk into my skin so quickly. I felt that out of all the products this was the one that I could actually see myself buying again and continuing to use. It definitely combatted the dry areas of my skin and kept those spots at bay. The only downside is that when using this product at night I found that my face was much oilier than normal in the morning but would be something I could deal with.
Have you tried anything from the Proactiv+ range? Are there any other products you would recommend for combination spot prone skin that I can try out?
