Spring is just around the corner and what a better time to get your wardrobe decluttered and organised ready for the new season. Here are my top tips on how to declutter your wardrobe and make room for all the spring / summer trends.
Tip 1 – REARRANGE
I currently store my clothes on a clothing rail. Currently all my thick winter jumpers are at the front of the rail. It’s time to move them to the back! Wahoo! Bring all your summer dresses and light knits to the front so they are easily accessible. Move all the thicker winter items to the back as hopefully you won’t be needing these for the next few months.
Tip 2 – BE RUTHLESS
If you haven’t worn it then it’s time to part ways. There are so many jumpers and thick dresses that I haven’t worn this winter and the odds are I won’t wear them next winter either. Bag these items up and decide whether they are suitable for selling, cash for clothes or for the charity shops. This way to should open up a lot of room in your wardrobe for all your new fashion buys. I’m always shocked by the item of clothes I just haven’t worn at all.
Tip 3 – BOX IT UP
I have under bed storage that I keep some of my shoes in. Currently it is storing all my flip flops and sandals. When the weather starts to get warmer I will get all the sandals out and switch them with my boots. The boots will then be tucked out of the way whilst I’m not wearing them. My flip flops and sandals are then stored in my dressing room on a shoe rack and are easily accessible.
This might not seem like a lot of things to do but it is very time consuming. Make sure your in the right mood before you start otherwise you won’t be as efficient in getting rid of the items you never wear. It’s normally something I dread doing but once I get into it I find myself actually enjoying. My motivation is the more items I put in my selling pile the more new items I can buy for the new season.
