Benefit Porefessional – The Holy Grail of Primers?

Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Primer

Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Primer

I’ve been hearing lots of good things about Benefit recently. They have launched some amazing products and one that has lots of hype surrounding it has been The Porefessional Primer. I popped into my local Debenhams store and picked up a sample size of the Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Primer for free. I literally couldn’t wait to try it out. I have large pores on my cheeks, forehead and nose and have always been extremely conscious of them. I’ve tried every product going to try and minimize the appearance of my pores and give me a smoother complexion, but so far no success! I had nothing to lose so The Porefessional was being put to the ultimate test.

First Impression

The packaging as always for Benefit Cosmetics is cute and girly and promises to ‘minimize the appearance of pores’. I hadn’t actually seen photos of the product itself so when I squirted some onto my hand to use I was shocked that it was more of a foundation colour than the white / clear liquid you expect of a primer. The colour appeared to be quite dark and was definitely not my normal foundation shade.

The product does say you can either use it as a primer before makeup application or over makeup. I decided to trial it as a typical primer before my full makeup application. It went on like an absolute dream. It felt really soft and silky on my skin. The product is described as ‘lightweight’ I felt it was heavier than my normal primers but then again if it’s going to conceal pores then it does need to be a little bit thicker. I used a small finger sized drop of the product and used it to cover my entire face focusing mainly on my forehead, nose and cheeks (the more problematic areas). Even though the product is a foundation colour it actually goes on clear and blends completely with your skin tone.

Oh holy crap! I was literally gob smacked with the results. It only went and bloody worked! It actually concealed my ginormous pores! I was stunned. My large pores were literally no longer visible and I had a super sleek base to work with. I can’t even express how amazed I am with this product. I felt like the impossible had been done. I’ve literally tried so many products I had practically given up hope. I think I would now struggle without this product as part of my daily makeup application routine. I plan to make a cheeky splurge and pick up the full size product to use as part of my daily makeup routine.

Pore fessional might actually be the holy grail of primers. I've tried loads over the years but this one seems to be the only one that gives me that airbrushed look. The only thing is I can't use it every day because it makes my skin oily but other then that, can't fault it! haha "holy crap"! – the big bottle does last ages too as you only need a small amount at a time 🙂 xx

    Thanks for reading my blog!

I have never really jumped on the wagon of primers but I might just have to give this one a go. I get really nervous though, about adding new things to my makeup routine based on how sensitive my skin is!

I think this is the best primer I've ever had. I'm using a No7 one right now, and it's good, but not in the same league! Definitely need to buy again in my next makeup haul!

I have heard a lot of good things about this product but have never really been convinced that it would be that different from any other primer. But I am convinced after reading your post though! I will most definitely buy it next time I at the benefit counter 🙂

You have a great blog also.
