How to back up your blog before making any changes to the coding or editing the HTML…
Before editing any of your blogs coding you always want to back it up first. Then if you make any mistakes there is no panic and you can put your blog back to how it was before you started changing the HTML.
This is really easy to do and should be something you do on a regular basis just in case any of your posts or pages get lost in the galaxy that is the world wide web.
Back Up Your Blogger Template and Design:
Login to your blogger account. The select ‘Template’ and in the top right hand corner there is a button that is labelled ‘Backup / Restore’. Click it and select ‘Download full template’. Save it to somewhere memorable on your computer like in a designated ‘Blog’ folder and I always save it as the month that I downloaded it. So whenever I want to restore something on my blog I can see easily what the latest back up is that I have.
Back Up Your Blogger Posts:
Login to your blogger account and select the ‘Settings’ tab then ‘Other’. Right at the top of the page you will see ‘Blog Tools’ you want to ‘Export Blog’ and then ‘Download Blog’. Again save this file somewhere memorable that you can find easily at a later date.
It really is that simple! Depending on how often you post or edit your template / blog design is how often you should be backing up your blog.
Next Friday’s tutorial will be showing you how to search for a select string of code using the ‘Edit Html’ section.
